Funeral services for Dr. Wm. M. Dohrer, who died at his home Feb. 04, after a brief illness, were held at his home and at the Evangelical and Reformed church Saturday afternoon.
William Mathew Dohrer was born June 29, 1897, in Cox Creek township. He attended a rural school, graduated from Elkader high school and Iowa State College at Ames, receiving the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
He was married to Hilda Kuehl at Elkader, June 22, 1920, and the couple established their home in Volga City where Dr. Dohrer practiced veterinary medicine. About two years later they moved to Ayrshire, where they lived until 1934 when they returned to Elkader.
Besides his wife, Dr. Dohrer is survived by two daughters, Charlotte Kramer of Rockford, Ill., and Yvonne Nelson of Elkader; one son, William Dohrer, Jr., at home; his mother, Mrs. Gustie Cassidy, and one sister, Mrs. Doris Scofield of Elkader. He is also survived by four grandsons.
Rev. P. Kitterer officiated at the funeral services and at the burial in East Side cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews: Milton, Haldon and Orville Reimer, Burnell, Ralph and Orrin Kuehl.
Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Beddow of Ruthven, Mr. and Mrs. George Kuehl and family, Mrs. Realto Kuehl and Mrs. Les Himebaugh of Scotch Grove, Miss Pearl Cords of McGregor, Mrs. Eva Aeschleman and Fred Heiden of Wadena, John Kuehl and family of Elkport, Norbert Kuehl of Garnavillo and Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Stoops of St. Olaf.
