Funeral services were held at Elkport Friday afternoon for Mrs. Christ Wentz, who died at her home Jan. 26 after an illness of four years and eight months.
Mrs. Wentz, the former Minnie Krause, was born in Germany Dec. 11, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kraus. She came to America with her parents in 1884 and the family settled in Clayton county. She was married to Christ Wentz in Elkader, Nov. 08, 1893. They moved to Elkport in 1933.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Wentz is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Levi Phelps, Cassville, Wis., Mrs. Matt Miller, Mrs. Frieda Mueller and Elise Wentz, all of Elkport, and Mrs. Theodore Grapes of Dysart; one son, Lawrence Wentz of Elkport. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and five brothers, William of Colesburg, Fred of Garber, August of Elkader, Charley of Monona, Emil of Luana, and one sister, Carrie Reinitz of Guttenberg.
Mrs. Wentz was buried in the Communia cemetery with the following as pallbearers: Joe Beck, Otto Miersen, Louis Winch, Wm. Refle, John Zapf and Ed Lundt.
