Funeral services for Thomas F. Hyde were held at St. Joseph church in Elkader at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, Dec. 09, the Very Rev. B. H. Skahill officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph cemetery.
Mr. Hyde, who had been an invalid for several years, died at the farm of his brother Leo, Friday, Dec. 05. Death was due to the infirmities of age.
Thomas F. Hyde was born on a farm in Boardman township Dec. 22, 1869, the son of Patrick and Kathryn Hyde. Most of his life was spent in Elkader and Boardman township with the exception of a few years in Kansas. For many years he and his brother James operated a blacksmith shop in Elkader and later the Hyde implement business. He retired about 23 years ago and has since made his home with his brother Leo on a farm three miles southwest of Elkader. He was a member of St. Joseph church.
Surviving are two brothers and a sister: P. . Hyde of Elkader, John Hyde of Elmwood Park, Ill., and Mrs. E. C. Charlton of Denver, Colo.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mae) Gill and a brother James.
Pallbearers were: George Cassutt, Leo Kelleher, Wm. Muench, Joe Muench, James Kelleher and Francis Stence.
