Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Peace Evangelical and reformed church for John Emil Carl Glawe, second eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Glawe of Littleport, who died at the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines Aug. 17, at the age of 29 years, 10 months and 29 days.

Born on a farm near Elkader, he received his education in a rural school near his home. After finishing his schooling he helped his parents on the farm. On March 29, 1931, he was confirmed in the Evangelical and Reformed church at Elkader.

On Dec. 18, 1941, he was married at Elkader to Geneva Mae Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vird Shaw of Guttenberg. To this union two children were born, a son, Jerold Lee, and a daughter, Bonnie Mae.

He entered the army Oct. 19, 1942, and served with the quartermaster division at Camp Phillips, Kan., until May 24, 1943, when he was given an honorable discharge. Following his return to civilian life he tried to farm but poor health forced him to quit. In November, 1946, he and his family moved to Edgewood, from where he was taken by ambulance to the Veterans' hospital in Des Moines July 08.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Geneva Glawe, a son, Jerold Lee, 2, and a daughter, Bonnie Mae, six months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Glawe of Littleport; three brothers, Leroy and Lester of Edgewood, and Alvin of Dubuque; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Burial was in the Clayton Center cemetery.

Pall bearers were Dale and Glenn Miersen, Lowell and Burdette Fritz, and Elmer Rodas, all of Littleport, and John W. Miller of Edgewood.
