Clayton County Register,10 July 1947.

VOLGA CITY: Charles E. Lovett, 84, mayor of Volga City, died Monday afternoon at Mercy hospital, Oelwein, where he had been a patient the past number of weeks. Mr. Lovett had been in failing health the past four months.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., at the Methodist church, with burial in Hill Crest cemetery, Volga.
