VOLGA: The death of Mrs. A. J. Cox occurred Thursday afternoon at her home in town. She had been in ill health the past several months.
She was born Catherine Minihan, daughter of Maurice and Mary Minihan, April 29, 1890, in Highland township. After her marriage to Andrew J. Cox, they resided on different farms around this community and later moved to Volga where they have resided the past number of years.
Mrs. Cox at the time of her death, was president of the Rosary society and president of the Sacred Heart league. She was a member of the Alter society, the Sacred Heart study club and the National council of Catholic Women.
Services were held Monday at 10 a.m. with the pastor, the Rev. D. T. Noonan celebrant of the requiem high mass, at the Sacred Heart Catholic church. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery, Volga.
Casket bearers were: George Cassutt, Elkader; Luke Little, Michael Martin, James Shea, Raphael Orr and Clarence Zapf, Volga.
Besides her husband she is survived by two brothers and two sisters: Martin and Patrick Minihan, Elgin, Miss Irene Minihan, Elgin, and Mrs. G. J. (Ella) Van Besein, Kansas City, Mo., also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Michael and Maurice Minihan, and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Thyne.
