Funeral services for Mrs. John Sturm, 75, were held at the Witt funeral chapel at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Herbert G. Kelly officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Sturm died at her home in Cox Creek township early Saturday morning April 12, following a long illness.

Sophia Homan was born in Cox Creek township February 12, 1872, the daughter of Charles and Henrietta Homan, and had spent her entire life in Clayton county.

She was married at Elkader to John Stum on October 18, 1891. Their entire married life was spent in and around Osborne. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary October 18, 1946.

Mrs. Sturm was a member of the Osborne camp of the Royal Neighbors for many years.

She is survived by her husband, one son, Clarence of Osborne, and two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Beck of Littleport and Mrs. Lawrence Meyer of Communia; also eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, one brother and a son, Johnnie, preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were: George Behn, Henry Behn, Miles Scott, Gerald Stahl, Alfred Baars and Ben Casey.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: John Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Vic Cunningham, Mrs. Katie Schellschmidt, and Mrs. Albert Ferguson, all of Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Emma Homan, Mrs. Minnie Hagensick, Mr. and Mrs. Rance Dundee and son, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pausch, and Amelia Gusta, all of Waukon; Mrs. Hulda Osborne, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Wood and Warren, and Mr. and Mrs. Vierow of Strawberry Point; Chas. Sturm of Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vierow of Sumner; Elmer Homan of Manchester; Charles Heitkamp of Waverly, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hulbert and son of Fayette.
