Funeral services for Frank Tieden, 73, life-long resident of Elkader and vicinity who died Thursday, Jan. 23, at the home of his son Raymond were held from the Witt Funeral chapel at 1:30 on Sunday afternoon to Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Frank Tieden, the son of Jansen and Anna Bowman Tieden was born Mar. 01, 1873, on the farm in Cox Creek township now occupied by his brother Lewis.

After his marriage to Anna Ortman on Nov. 27, 1895, he moved to the farm now occupied by his son Don where he lived until he and his wife retired in 1936 and moved to Elkader which has since been his home. Mrs. Tieden died on Jan. 06, 1940.

Mr. Tieden had been in failing health for a number of years but was able to live alone and care for ____ ____ his home. He suffered several light strokes about two weeks ago and became seriously ill and was taken to the home of his son Raymond, where he died.

Mr. Tieden was a director of the Elkader Co-operative company, a member of the Elkader Fair board, a director and adjustor of the Communia Fire Insurance company. He was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church.

He came from a family of eleven children. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. The surviving brothers and sisters are: Jansey Tieden of Puyallup, Wash.; Mary, Alma, George, Lewis and Martha, all of Elkader; Anna of Big Sandy, Mont., and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were: Fred Ihlenfeldt, Orlando Bailey, Elmer Moser, Pearl Huggins, William Muench and A. A. Schultz.

People from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Herr_n, Mrs. Clara Ortman, Chris. Behrens and son Milford, Mr. and Mrs. Walpole, all of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Martha Hiddy, Mechanicsville; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Seeley and John Seeley, all of Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gifford, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hagen, Waterville, and William Brabham of Ames.
