ECKER, CONKEY, FARRELL

Funeral services were held Monday at the Holy Name Catholic church in West Union for William Grant Ecker, 82, who died Saturday at his home in West Union, after being ill 10 days. The Rev. E. L. Conboy, pastor, celebrated the requiem mass. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery at Elkader, where the Rev. Skahill read the prayers at the gravesite.

Pall bearers were Ed Farrell, Ray Hoover, George Wilbur, Wm. Lyons, Ted Dorland and Raymond Armstrong.

Mr. Ecker was the youngest son of Abe and Harriet Conkey Ecker and was born July 15, 1864, at West Union. He attended the West Union schools and a private academy of Prof. S. S. Ainsworth. He followed the occupation of decorator.

On August 15, 1916, he was married to Miss Mary A. Farrell of Elkader by Father Rooney at West Union.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a brother, Ernest of Arlington and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ecker has visited at different times in the Farrell home at Volga.

Note: The obituary printed in the Elkader paper was a week after an obit was published in the 'Fayette County Union and West Union Argo' 1/2/1947. Ecker died on Saturday 12/28/1946.
