Emory Raymond Beatty, third son of John D. and Anna Hill Beatty, was born May 23, 1861, on the Beatty homestead, two and one half miles northeast of Littleport. He spent his childhood on this farm, attending the old stone school house at Bear Creek. Growing to manhood, he purchased the farm from his father. On May 10, 1896, he was united in marriage to Miss Etta Pearl Hawley. To them were born five children: Raymond of Edgewood; Roy of Oak Park, Ill.; Florence (Mrs. Rex DeMeritt), Oak Park, Ill.; Cynthia (Mrs. August Pape), Chicago, Ill.; and Jennie.
He was preceded by his wife and daughter, Jennie. Since their death in 1942 he made his home with his children.
Since an early age, Mr. Beatty was a member of the Methodist church.
Mr. Beatty died Dec. 24, following a short illness. Besides the sons and daughters, five grandsons and one granddaughter survive.
