Clayton County Register, 25 Dec. 1940.

Miss Amanda Gebhardt, 57, of near Giard, died at her home very suddenly Tuesday morning, on the farm where she lived with her brother, Ben Gebhardt. Funeral services were held Thursday at the Giard Methodist church, Rev. W. R. Ehlert officiating. Burial was in the Giard cemetery. Miss Gebhardt's family were early settlers in this community. She is survived by two brothers, Ben and Will, both of near McGregor and four sisters, Mrs. Katherine Turner of McGregor, Mrs. John Schmidt and Mrs. Freda Borst of Monona and Mrs. Arthur Knapp of Marquette.
