Funeral services for E. E. Bartlett were held Sunday afternoon at the Gill's funeral home, conducted by the Rev. James E. McLain, pastor of the Congregational church. The pallbearers were, A. J. Stamp, John Jewell, Charles Fliehler, C. H. Campbell, John Knight and Wm. Knight. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Elmer E. Bartlett, son of William and Sarah Sturdivant Bartlett, was born in this county on the Bert Stamp farm, three miles southeast of Strawberry Point on Nov. 07, 1863 and died at his home, Friday morning. He received his education in the rural and local public schools. He was married to Laura Hitchcock. They lived on a farm near Thorpe. To this union were born two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Grace) Farrar of New York City, Mrs. Dale (Laura) Henderson of Thorpe and the son, George, who was drowned near Redfield, S.D., in 1917.

Mrs. Bartlett died in 1896. On Feb. 24, 1899, he was married to Sarah Gleason at Elkader. They commenced housekeeping on his father's farm, east of town, then went to Manchester and farmed for five years. To this union was born one son, Clair, at home.

In 1913 they retired from the farm and moved to Strawberry Pt. and purchased the home where he has since resided. He was a painter and paper hanger for many years.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, one son, one grandson and a half-brother, Wm. Bartlett, in Santa Monica, Calif.
