MCGREGOR: Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Catholic church Friday morning for James Williamson, 88, of Marquette who died at the hospital Tuesday, Nov. 12, after a long illness. Mr. Williamson was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Dec. 25th, 1851 the son of James and Rachel Park Williamson. He came to this country when he was 20 years old with James Edwards who lived in McGregor for many years. Oct. 02, 1883 he was married to Bridget Della Murphy, theirs being the second marriage performed in the present St. Mary's church in McGregor. Three sons were born to them, but all have passed away before their father. His widow is his only survivor. He was employed by the Milwaukee railroad for many years as a bridge carpenter, retiring about 25 years ago. He has always lived in Marquette since his marriage 57 years ago and was Marquette's oldest citizen.
