Wm. A. Baars, prominent Cox Creek township farmer, died this morning in a Prairie du Chien hospital. Monday morning he had submitted to an operation.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 1:30 from the late home and at 2:00 in the Friedens' Evangelical church, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon, April 26th, for William A. Baars. Services at the home were held at 1:30 and at the Frieden's Evangelical church at 2:00 with burial in the East Side cemetery. The Rev. P. Kitterer, his pastor, officiated.

Casketbearers were: E. C. Bandow, George Behn, Milton Klink, H. S. Possehl, Chris Meyer and Otto Gusta.

William A. Baars, son of Fred (Baars) and his wife Rosa, nee Heitkamp, was born Jan. 31, 1882, in Cox Creek township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died at the new Sanitarium, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Wednesday morning April 24, 1940, at the age of 58 years, two months and 16 days.

The deceased was married to Bertha S. Lundt at Elkport, Iowa, on February 20, 1907. One child was born to this union, Una, - Mrs. R. Lemka of Elkader, Iowa. After his marriage the next four years were spent in Boardman township and since that time he has resided on his farm in Cox Creek township.

The deceased was of a quiet, peaceful disposition, but served well in any capacity he was called upon. He was a member of the Frieden's Evangelical church and served on the council for a number of years, being in office at the time of the building of the church. He was an officer of the Elkader Commission and Co-operative company, the local creamery, and served on various township boards.

The deceased had been in failing health for a number of years, but managed to be up and around his duties until about two weeks ago when his condition became more serious. An operation was performed at the Sanitarium in Prairie du Chien Monday morning, but to no avail.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Una R. Lemke, and his two beloved grandchildren, Bonnie Mae and Kenneth Lemke. Also two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Plogman of Elkport, Iowa, and Mrs. Alfred Kishman of Monona, Iowa.

Services from home Friday afternoon, April 26, at one-thirty and Frieden's Evangelical church at two o'clock. Burial at East Side cemetery, P. Kitterer officiating. Pallbearers: Elmer Bandow, George Behn, Milton Klink, H. S. Possehl, Chris Meyer, Otto Gusta.
