Garber: Funeral services for George Bertram Hammond were held in the St. John's church Tuesday, April 9,, with the Rev. C. P. Schrupp officiating. Burial was made in the Brown cemetery.
He was born near Garber January 15, 1870, the son of George and Mary Hammond. He moved to Garber with his parents in 1895, where he resided until his death April 6 at one o'clock at the age of 70 years, two months and eight days.
Mr. Hammond had been a member of the town council for many years and always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. He will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rachel Hansel, and Nettie as an infant.
He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Minnie Schelland, of Garber, and one brother, John, of Clear Lake, Wis., eight nieces and three nephews, besides a host of friends.
