Clayton County Register, 13 Mar. 1940.

STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for George Henry Otdoerfer were held Friday afternoon at the Emanuel's Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Max O. Jahr. Miss Helene Jahr sang, with Mrs. Don Tinker playing the accompaniment. Six grandsons, Harold, George, and Roger Otdoerfer, Maynard and Werner Druecker, and Wayland Fredrick, were the pall bearers. Burial was made in St. Sebald cemetery.

As a son of Sigmund and Marguerite Schram Otdoerfer, he was born in Monroe county, Pennsylvania, on March 10, 1860, and died at his home Tuesday after a lingering illness. When he was five years old he came with his parents to Clayton county, settling on a farm north and west of Strawberry Point. When fourteen years old, he was confirmed by the Rev. John List, at that time pastor of the St. Sebald Lutheran church. He was married to Wilhelmina Nodurft, June 26, 1884, by the Rev. H. Fuehr, pastor of the St. Sebald Lutheran church. They lived, labored and saved for 31 years on the farm now occupied by their oldest son, Sigmund. In 1915 they retired to their home in Strawberry Point, where they have since resided. Since the celebration of the golden wedding anniversary a family gathering has been held each year.

Mr. Otdoerfer was a faithful member of the Emanuel Lutheran church and attended the services whenever his health permitted.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons and three daughters, Sigmund and Herman Otdoerfer, and Mrs. August Druecker, all of Strawberry Point, Mrs. John Fredrick of Arlington, and Mrs. Arthur Manson of Independence; also sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Amelia Pebler and Mrs. William Nodurft, Strawberry Point, Mrs. Charles Koehler, Arlington, and Mrs. Chris Elfort, Cushing, Minn.
