Alonzo Henry Wells was born in Clayton county, March 16, 1867. He reached the age of 71 years and 21 days. Mr. Wells spent his entire life around Elkader and surrounding community.
On October 21, 1891, he was united in marriage to Mable Meyer. To this union a very happy family was born: Miss Freda Wells, at home; Mrs. Myra Hulverson, Volga City; Mrs. Hattie Stephens, Elkader; Mrs. Amy Zeiger, Webster City; DeVere Wells, at home, and Shirley Wells, at home.
He leaves to mourn, ten grandchildren. Mr. Wells wife and the twin babies preceded him in death.
Mr. Wells apparently had been enjoying good health until late this fall. He was stricken early Sunday morn at 12:15, with a very serious heart attack. He died before the doctor could be summoned.
Mr. Wells had been street commissoner for Elkader for a great number of years. He was also a member of the Modern Woodmen of America, Camp 319, Elkader, Iowa.
Besides leaving his immediate family to mourn his death, he leaves a large circle of friends.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon and burial was made in the East Side cemetery, with the Rev. N. O. Bartholomew officiating.
