STRAWBERRY POINT: Kenneth Owen, the five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Will A. Luse, was instantly killed Wednesday evening when he ran from behind a car into the path of a car driven by Leonard Nicholey, music instructor in the local high school. The little one had alighted from his father's car and started across the street to the home of a brother, Melvin, living on Elkader street. Mr. Nicholey, accompanied by other teachers, were enroute to the county tournament at Monona. The accident was unavoidable and Mr. Nicholey was in no way to blame.
Kenneth Owen was born at Strawberry Point, June 30, 1934. Besides the parents, he is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Derald of Earlville, Ill., Wayne W. with the U.S. navy stationed on the U.S.S. Dobbin, Division _, Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, T. H., Mrs. Eldon (Wilma) Burgin of Dundee, Melvin and Mrs. Wm. (Lois) Jewell of Strawberry Point, Audrey, Janice, Lucille and Sylvan at home.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Saturday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Glenn S. Hartong. The remains were placed into the receiving vault until spring when burial will be made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
