Funeral services were held here in St. Joseph's church this morning for Merle J. Boland, who died at Waukon last Friday at 11:00 p.m.

Merle James Boland was born here in Elkader on Oct. 02, 1916, the son of Wm. H. and Anna M. (West) Boland. He received his early education in the rural schools of this township and at the time of his death was engaged as a farm hand for Roy Eiffert.

Besides his father at Harpers Ferry and his mother at Compton, Calif., he is survived by six brothers, namely, Harold W. Copperoplis, Calif., John C., Arthur M. and Vernon E., all of Harpers Ferry; Raymond J. of Chicago and Cyril B., of Elkader.

Burial was made in St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rev. Msgr. J. P. Taken officiating. Casket bearers were: Leo Kelleher, Joe Hoover, Art Hoover, Ed. Stephens, Hy. Hamlet and Clarence Neylan.
