Clayton County Register, 07 Feb. 1940.

Volga City: The community was shocked Monday morning to hear of the sudden death of Herbert C. McChesney, 73. Upon his failure to arise as usual every morning his father-in-law, C. E. Lovett, with whom he makes his home, went to his room and found him dead in bed. Death was due to heart failure.

Since the death of his wife, the former Ruth Lovett, he has made his home here with Mr. Lovett.

Surviving are a grandson, George Erickson of Stillwater, Minn., and a brother in California, and his father-in-law, C. E. Lovett.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed at this writing pending word from relatives.
