St. Olaf: Mrs. Jessie Irene Larson, daughter of Engelbert and Ida Gulsvig, of Gunder, was born in Marion township, December 16, 1902. She was baptized Jan. 11, 1903, and was confirmed May 13, 1917.
On August 30, 1922 the deceased was united in marriage with LeRoy Larson of St. Olaf. To this union were born two children, Lyle Norris now 15, and Lavanda Delores, who died in infancy. Their early home was made in St. Olaf where they were engaged in farming until they acquired the position of star route mail carriers in 1935 when a change in the mail schedule necessitated their making their home in McGregor in 1936. Mrs. Larson continued to live in McGregor until her death.
Mrs. Larson was taken to the University hospital at Iowa City on Monday evening, Jan. 29th, and died at 5:15 Jan. 31.
She is mourned by her husband LeRoy and son Lyle; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Gulsvig, of Gunder; two sisters, Mrs. John Renzman of Postville, and Mrs. Art Puffer of Calmar; four brothers, Milo and Roy at home and Earnest and Richard at Postville.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, Feb. 05, at two o'clock at the Norway church with the Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiating. Interment was made in the Norway cemetery.
