Luana: Mrs. Herman Rekow died at her home here, January 06, 1940, after a few days' illness, at the age of 83.

As Bertha Fisher, she was born Oct. 12, 1857, At Lassene, Germany. Dec. 10, 1878, she married Herman Rekow. Five years later they came from Germany, locating at North McGregor, now known as Marquette. Seven years later they purchased a farm in Allamakee county. Twelve years later they purchased a larger farm near Luana, from which they retired in 1913.

Mrs. Rekow is survived by her aged husband and ten children: Otto of Kensett, Iowa; Mrs. Anna Dresser, Emmett, Idaho; Fred of Ellendale, N.Dak.; Mrs. Helen Parker of Ladysmith, Wis.; Mrs. Louisa Meyer of Monona; William of Emmett, Idaho; Miss Minnie Rekow of Emmett, Idaho; Emil of Garner, Iowa; Henry of Postville, and Mrs. DeEtta Landt of Luana; also 41 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Carl preceded his mother in death 25 years ago.

The funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon, 1:30, at the St. John's Lutheran church, her pastor, Rev. Paul Adix, officiating, with interment in the Lutheran cemetery at Luana.
