Clayton County Register, 29 Dec. 1939.
MONONA: Funeral services for Mrs. Magdalela Jarms, aged 79, were held at two o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, from the Methodist church, and burial was made beside her husband in the city cemetery*. Rev. H. W. Farnham officiated. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Magdalene Egbert and Mrs. Bertha Miller. One daughter, Mrs. Wm Schlitter, preceded her in death. One brother, Gottlieb Zurcher, also survives her, and 26 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Jarms was one of Monona's kindest women. She remembered her friends with cards on their birthdays and visited the sick and shut-ins and carried one of her bouquets of flowers she raised with her. Mrs. Jarms was a great lover of flowers and her garden was beautiful all during the summer months. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church and lived true to its teachings. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps and the R.N. of A. The large attendance at her funeral services showed the high esteem in which she was held.
The sympathy of the community is extended the daughters, brother and grandchildren in their great loss.
