Dickson, Francis died 1939

Clayton County Register, 27 Dec. 1939.

Guttenberg: Francis Dickson, 37, was found dead in his cottage a mile south of here, Thursday, apparently the victim of a shotgun accident, a coroner's jury decided.

The accident is believed to have happened last Wednesday. When found, Dickson was wearing mittens and the coroner's jury believes he either was removing his automatic shotgun from the wall or hanging it up when the weapon was discharged. He had been trapping along the Mississippi river.

The discharge entered his abdomen. The gun was found lying nearby. Dickson's body was discovered by Alvin Ingerwerson.

Dickson is survived by his wife and two small children, who were in town and did not know of the tragedy until informed by authorities.

Funeral services were held last Saturday.
