STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for August Opperman were held Saturday afternoon at the Stafford funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Max O. Jahr, pastor of the Emanuel's Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
He was the son of Henry and Wilhelmina Opperman, born at Minneiska, Minn., Nov. 17, 1865, and died at the University hospital in Iowa City, Wednesday morning, after several months' illness, and a week ago was taken to Iowa City in hopes of being benefitted. He came here with his parents in 1877. Later, he moved to Fergus Falls. He was united in marriage to Debbie Trumblee. They lived in Aberdeen, S.D. After the death of Mrs. Opperman, he returned here, where he has since resided. In his early life he was engaged in farming and operated a threshing machine. Surviving are one son, Frank, of Malad, Idaho, and five grandchildren; also one sister and three brothers: Mrs. Hannah Allenstein, of Gadson, Alabama; Ernest Opperman and Henry Opperman of Strawberry Point, and Herman Opperman of Cedar Rapids.
