Clayton County Register, 13 Dec. 1939.
Edward Lee Larson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orvald E. Larson, was born on the 19th day of December, 1937. He passed away on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m., December 09th, 1939, at the age of 1 year, 11 months and 20 days.
His health seemed to be good until he was seven months old, when he contracted whooping cough. The resulting weakness led to other complications. All that loving care and medical science could do, was done. He was taken to Iowa City, October 25th, but it all proved futile.
He was committed unto the Lord in "Holy Baptism" on January 23, 1938. Those left to mourn the loss of this little boy are his parents, two sisters, Janis and Lois, the grandmother, Mrs. Ed. P. Larson, and other near relatives.
The funeral service was conducted at the home at 1:00, Tuesday afternoon, and at 1:30 at the Highland Lutheran church, by Rev. E. E. Ramsey. Corinne Schoien sang, "I Belong to Jesus," at the home. At the church, Corinne Schoien, Beverly Larson, Norma Torkelson, Dorothy Torkelson sang two songs, "Beautiful Savior," and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Rev. Ramsey sang a solo, "Praise God This Hour of Sorrow." There were many beautiful floral offerings from neighbors and friends.
Four young boys, Norris Larson, Robert Larson, Junior Hanson and Otis Torkelson, carried the casket and the flower girls were Norma Larson, Betty Holm, Amy Lou Torkelson and Delores Torkelson.
