Clayton County Register, 11 Oct. 1939.

STRAWBERRY POINT: Thursday evening, word was passed around that Gus Kamoss was dead. After finishing his work around the house, he put up his tools and went in the house of his son-in-law, Floyd Snyder, where he lived, and was found lying on the kitchen floor, dead, by Mrs. Snyder, probably due to heart attack.

Funeral services for Gustave A. Kamoss were held at the Floyd Snyder home, Sunday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Max O. Jahr, pastor of the Emanuel's Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

As a son of John and Wilhelmina Kamoss, he was born March 02, 1864, at Interburg, East Prussia. He came to this country when 12 years of age. On Dec. 26, 1884, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Allenstein at Strawberry Point. They made their home on a farm in McCook county, S.D. They lived there five years and then came back to Iowa and lived on a farm about four miles southwest of Strawberry Point, until they retired and moved to town. Mrs. Kamoss died Jan. 05, 1928.

Surviving are the following children: Henry Kamoss and Mrs. Floyd (Esther) Snyder, of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Leroy (Ottilia) Pilgrim of Manchester, and Mrs. Lydia Ivory of Clinton; also 15 Grandchildren.
