Clayton County Register, 06 Sept. 1939.
St. Olaf: Lars Larson, son of Helge Larson (Ramstad) and Sarah Halvorson, was born Sept. 22, 1860, on the farm in Wagner township now owed by Art Johnson. The family lived on this farm until they retired from farming, at which time they moved to McGregor, where Lars made his home up to the time of his death. He was in the shoe business with his brother Henry for 60 years, but during the last ten years he retired from active business, due to failing eyesight.
He suffered a severe skull fracture Tuesday afternoon, and died Friday evening, Sept. 01, at the McGregor hospital, at the age of 78 years, 11 months and 09 days. He was the last of a family of three children to pass away. His brother Henry preceded him in death six years ago, and a sister, Johanna (Mrs. John Olson) died three years ago.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Norway congregation.
He leaves to mourn his departure, a brother-in-law, John Olson of St. Olaf; a nephew and family, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Olson, Homer and Nordine, of Decorah.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Schultz funeral home at Monona, with Rev. Strandjord officiating. Interment was made in the Norway cemetery. Pallbearers were Alfred Knudson, Elmer Ronquist, Alvin Larson and Oscar Ronquist.
