MONONA: Funeral services for Alva Koth aged 55, were held Tuesday afternoon from the local Methodist church. The Rev. G. W. Turner officiated and burial was made in the city cemetery. He is survived by his widow and other relatives.

Alva Koth, son of William and Sophia Koth, was born on July 17, 1884, in Farmersburg township. When eight years of age the family moved to the farm on which his home is now located. On February 26, 1908, he was united in marriage to Maude Walter at her home in Wagner township. In 1910 he pur- (next several words blurred) which they built a home where they have enjoyed their life until now. In addition to operating his own farm, he also tenanted the Gilbert farm 29 years.

In 1923 his health began to fail; he sought aid at the Sanitarium at Prairie du Chien and received help there which lasted for a time. In 1937 he again entered the same hospital, but without much success.

On August 11, 1939, he suffered quite suddenly, a stroke, and passed away at 4:30 the same day at the age of 55 years. During his lifetime he took great pride in his home and his stock, which was a source of envy to others for miles around.

His father and mother preceded him in death, and there are left to mourn, his sorrowing wife, three sisters, Effie, Mrs. George Henkes; Amanda, Mrs. Joseph Walter; and Lottie, Mrs. Thomas Cormack; and one brother, Ben.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, with prayer service at the home, and services held in the Methodist church at Monona, conducted by Rev. George W. Turner. Music was given by a quartet composed of Miss Killen, Mrs. Klotzbach, E. G. Kaiser, and K. W. Rash, with Mrs. Rash at the organ. Pallbearers were: George Kishman, Roy Saacke, Ira Moon, John Hoginson, Al Kadlec, Gus Lenth. Interment was in the city cemetery.
