Clayton County Register, 19 Apr. 1939.

Last Tuesday morning, April 11, Mrs. Minnie Feldman, a well-known resident of this community for 46 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frieda Smith, at Strawberry Point, at the age of 82 years, seven months and 13 days.

Mrs. Minnie Feldman was a daughter of John Schukei and his wife, Augusta Potratz, and was born in West Preussen, Germany, August 28, 1856. She came to America with her parents when she was 16 years of age. Her parents settled in Eitzen, Minn., where she grew to womanhood.

In the year 1877 she was united in marriage to Charles Feldman. Three children were born to this union, who survive their mother in death, and are: Mrs. Frieda Smith of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Lauline Williamson of Winthrop, Minn., and Mrs. Lydia Witt of Indianapolis, Ind.

Mrs. Feldman came to Elkader with her husband in the year 1888, and resided here until about four years ago, when, because of her health and advanced age, she was forced to give up her own home and reside with her daughter, Mrs. Smith, at Strawberry Point. The first years of her married life were spent in Waukon and Dorchester, Iowa.

Three years ago the deceased was seriously ill and was confined to her bed for about five months, but regained her health and was able to be up and around until about six weeks ago, when she again became ill, but wasn't confined to her bed until ten days before her death.

Mrs. Feldman will be missed not only by her immediate family, but also by a large circle of friends, for she had that rare faculty of making friends of her acquaintances.

Mrs. Feldman was a member of the Frieden's Evangelical church and a charter member of the Frauen Verein, serving as its first secretary. She was very active in doing something to promote the growth of both.

She leaves to mourn her departure the aforenamed children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1913.

Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon at 1:15 at the home of her daughter in Strawberry Point, in charge of the Rev. McLain, and at two o'clock here in the Frieden's Evangelical church, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Casket-bearers were: J. J. Kuehl, George Eberhardt, L. J. Palas, Chas. Meder, H. M. Wolf and J. F. Maley, all of Elkader.

(Note: A card of thanks was signed by her three children, Mrs. Freda Smith, Mrs. Pauline Williamson, Mrs. Lydia Witt.)
