On last Friday morning, March 24th, 1939, in Edgewood, Iowa, occurred the death of Mrs. Fred Light (nee Minnie Stade), after a brief illness, the cause of a stroke. The deceased was born on a farm at Luana, Iowa, July 15, 1887, therefore was 51 years, eight months and nine days of age. She had been a resident of Clayton county all her life. She was confirmed in the German Lutheran church at Farmersburg.
In 1908 she was married to Herman Rohwedder, who died in 1925. Three children were born to this union, Harlan of Greeley, Melva Blount of Strawberry Point, and a baby who died in infancy.
On Sept. 15, 1934, she was married to Fred Light. She leaves to mourn, her husband, son and daughter; one sister, Alma Berndt, of Elgin, Iowa; three brothers, Chas. Stade of Farmersburg, Fred Stade of Strawberry Point, and Ernie Boller of Wisconsin, and two grandsons. Besides the aforenamed children, she also leaves four step-children and four grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Services were held from Platte's Funeral Home, Edgewood, Iowa, Sunday afternoon at 1:15, and from Frieden's Evangelical church at 2:30. Burial was in East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating at the services.
