STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Mrs. Phineas Wandell of Edgewood were held in the Methodist church at Edgewood, Sunday afternoon. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Anna Hesner, daughter of Andrew and Frederica Hesner, was born in Clayton county on Sept. 14, 1861, and died at her home in Edgewood, Thursday, after a lingering illness.
She was united in marriage to Phineas Wandell on Feb. 24, 1878, and on Feb. 24, 1939, their 61st wedding anniversary was observed. In 1879 Mr. and Mrs. Hesner went to Kansas with a group of other Edgewood people in covered wagons, and there they made their homes until 1881, when they returned to Lodomillo township to farm. In 1910, they retired from farming and built a home at Edgewood. The deceased was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Hiram Steele Relief Corps. Surviving besides her husband, are three daughters, Mrs. Worthy A. (Vina) Robinson and Mrs. Homer (Dolly) Lewis, both of Manchester, and Mrs. James (Myra) Sauerbry of Strawberry Point; also two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and one brother, Charles Hesner, of Edgewood.
