Funeral services were held last Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and at two o'clock at the Frieden's Evangelical church here, for August Stahl. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery with the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
Mr. Stahl, a life-long resident of this county, was born in Boardman township, August 01, 1867, and died at his home in Cox Creek township, February 06, 1939, reaching the age of 71 years, six months and five days.
Mr. Stahl farmed during his entire lifetime. With the exception of two years, which he spent on a farm in Communia, he lived on the farm on which he died, for 40 years.
The deceased was united in marriage to Louisa Klink at Elkader. Three children were born to this union, namely: Lester of Elkader; Mrs. Velma Mae Scott of Elkader; and Clarence Henry, who died in service on Nov. 30, 1918, in Lincoln, N.H. Mr. Stahl's wife also preceded him in death.
The deceased had been in failing health for the past several years but was not bedfast until a week before his death.
He leaves to mourn his departure, besides the aforementioned children, four brothers, George, Louis and Mike, of Elkader, and Ed. of Illinois; and one grandson, Melvin Scott.
