Fairview: Mrs. Ray Smith died at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 03, 1939, following a lingering illness. She was born at Edgeley, N.D., in August 1894. She leaves to mourn, her husband and nine children. Interment was made in the Bethel cemetery on Thursday, Jan. 05, 1939.

Garber: Funeral services for Mrs. Ray Smith, 44, were held on Thursday in Bethel church, near Osterdock. The Rev. F. R. Maynard of Colesburg conducted the rites at the church and at the graveside in Bethel cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Tuesday at her home near Garber after an illness of four months.
She was born in August, 1894, at Forman, N.D. Her maiden name was Mary Luvay. She was married to Ray Smith in 1914. She spent most of her life in Clayton county, except for a short time in North Dakota.
Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Combs of Edgewood, Margaret, Betty Lou, Mary Jean and Donna Mae at home: four sons Kieth of Garber, Asa of Greeley, Lloyd and Francis at home; one brother, Francis, one sister, Lizzie, both of California; her aged father in North Dakota and one grandson.
