Mass of Christian Burial for Alberta L. French, 66, of Elkader, was held Monday, December 17, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elkader, Iowa. Rev. Paul Peters was celebrant, Organist was Darlene Dittmer. Pallbearers were Mike French, Mark French, William Scherf III and Steve Whittle. Arrangements were by Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader.
She was born July 26, 1935, in Boardman Township, rural Elkader, Iowa, daughter of Albert and Lucy (Needham) Geno. She graduated from Elkader High School and attended junior college.
She was united in marriage to Floyd A. French, January 24, 1959, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Elkader. Four children were born to this union. She was a lifetime resident of the Elkader area where she will be remembered as one who simply loved people. She died Friday morning, December 14, 2001, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader.
Survivors include her children, Mike (Wendy) French of Marion, Michelle (William III) Scherf, Farmersburg, Mark French, Elkader and Marianne Whittle, Elkader, six grandchildren, Krisha, Allison, Brooklyn, William IV, Cody and Colton, her long time companion, Merton Cook, Elkader, a sister, Norma (Leland) Olson, St. Olaf, a brother Robert (Pat) Geno, Harpers Ferry, and her aunt, Norma (Walter) Ditzler, Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two aunts, Irene and Goldie.I have no other information on this family,am not related.
