MCGREGOR: The ashes of Mrs. Christine Schwarting were sent here from San Diego, Calif., for burial in the Norwegian Lutheran cemetery. Rev. O. R. Haugstul, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran church of Swede Ridge, conducted funeral services last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Schwarting died October 14 at the age of 60 years. She was born near McGregor, Sept. 26, 1878, and attended McGregor high school and later the college at Decorah. She later moved to California, where she was married to Henry Schwarting. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sisters: Mrs. Carrie Beckett of Dubuque, Mrs. G. Tornes of Evanston, Ill., Miss Hilma Allen of Kankakee, Ill., and Mrs. Louis Larson and Mrs. Archie Fritz of McGregor, and five brothers, Oley and Albert Allen of Elkader, Lemuel Allen of Slater, Ia., Andrew Allen of Cedar Rapids, and Jack Allen of Waterloo.
