Thomas Frances Kelleher died at his home here on Thursday, Nov. 10th, at 1:40 p.m., following a lingering illness, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 27 days.

Mr. Kelleher was born in New York City on Feb. 13, 1851, the son of Jeremiah and Catherine (Cassidy) Kelleher. When he was about five years old he came to Iowa with his parents and settled on a farm in Boardman township, where he grew to manhood.

His early education was received in the rural schools and later at Campion college in Prairie du Chien (Wis.). Following this schooling, he returned to New York City for several years where he clerked for an uncle, before returning to Elkader.

He was united in marriage to Mary Feeney on Oct. 20, 1879, here in Elkader. The young couple settled on a farm in this township, where they lived until 1904, when they moved to the county farm, over which they had supervision until 1911, when they moved to Elkader, which has since been their home.

Mr. Kelleher is survived by his wife and six children, namely, Joseph J. of Manchester; Mrs. John Hughes of Chicago; Mrs. Albert Heiden of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Kathryn, Harry and Mrs. Leo Killerlain, all of Elkader. Fourteen grandchildren and numerous other relatives also survive. One son, Dr. George Frances Kelleher, and an infant daughter preceded the father in death.

Mr. Kelleher was the last survivor of a family of four - William, John and Mrs. Ann Losch. He was a familiar figure about town and will be missed by a host of friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 12th, at 10:00 a.m., with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery, the Rev. Father J. P. Taken officiating.

Casket bearers were: Mike Roach, Mike Hoover, Louis Winch, Fred Zahrndt, Joe Uriell and Alf. Schneider.

Relatives and friends from a distance who came to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. P. H. McMarra, Joe Looby and George Kelleher, medic student, all of Chicago; Mrs. Albert Heiden, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mrs. Walt Hogan of Des Moines; Joe Kelleher, Manchester; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cox, Volga City; Mrs. Carrie Kelleher of Charles City; Robert Kelleher, student at Iowa City; Jean Kelleher, student at Clarke college, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. John Feeney and Francis Feeney of Prairie du Chien (Wis.); Miss Nell Losch, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mrs. Henry Oelke, Garnavillo, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Feeney of Strawberry Point.
