James Milton McLane, son of Elliot and Emelie McLane, was born in Lodomillo township on Feb. 19, 1865, and died at the St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids from a heart attack, following an operation. In 1904 he was married to Mrs. Matilda Brandenburg. After his marriage the couple lived on a farm until 1914, when they moved to town. Besides his wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Viola Hughes, of Littleport; two nephews and three nieces, Jesse McLane of Strawberry Point, Harry McLane of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Glen Way, Mrs. Viola O__erbeck and Mrs. Ella Becker, all of this vicinity; also five step-children. One brother, Albert Lee, preceded him in death in 1931. The deceased has lived in this vicinity his entire life and was respected by all whom he came in contact with. His desire was to go unless he could get relief from an ailment which has been bothering him for some time. He is gone from our midst, but his good deeds and acts will ever be remembered by a large circle of friends.
