Strawberry Point: Funeral services for Mrs. A. J. Malone were held at the home, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hobart M. Grant, pastor of the Methodist church. Mrs. B. W. Talcott and Eldon Stafford sang "The Old Rugged Cross," Mrs. H. H. Hofer playing the accompaniment.
The pallbearers were Chris Miersen, A. J. Stamp, C. W. Buls, Bert Stamp, Frank Wilder and George Tucker. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
As Sophia Wiltse, youngest daughter of Alexander and Phoebe Wiltse, the deceased was born in Strawberry Point, Feb. 20, 1858, and died at her home, Sunday morning, after a lingering illness, although not confined to her bed until the past week. She was united in marriage to A. Jay Malone on Feb. 20, 1878, at Strawberry Point, by Rev. Hicks, pastor of the Methodist church. Since the celebration of the golden wedding anniversary, each anniversary has been celebrated with a family dinner. Her home has always been made here. The deceased was a member of the Methodist church, the Industrial club and the Royal Neighbors. Surviving besides her aged husband are five sons, Clyde of Manchester, Claire of Savanna, Ill., Lee, Omar and Cephas of Strawberry Point.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Annette Thompson, of Lake Worth, Florida.
