Garber: George Martin Oehrle, a resident of Garber for over 50 years, died in Mercy hospital at Dubuque last Friday night, July 29th, after a lingering illness. George, who was born May 21, 1876, had reached the age of 62 years, 2 months and 8 days. He moved to Garber with his parents when he was yet a young man. In 1918 he purchased lots in West View addition and built a home for himself.
In his infancy he was baptized into the Lutheran confession and this year on Pentecost, June 5th, he joined St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church of Garber through the rite of confirmation.
Surviving him are four brothers, William of Butte, Mont., Charles of Los Angeles, Calif., Herman of Seattle, Wash., and Lawrence of Dyersville; three sisters, Emma Oehrle of Butte, Mont., Mrs. Anna Nichols of Elkader, and Mrs. Kate Nichols of Waterville; many other relatives and a host of friends who mourn his departure. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Oehrle, preceded him in death a number of years ago.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 1st, in St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church and burial was in Mount Harmony cemetery with Rev. C. P. Schrupp officiating.
