STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Mrs. Clinton B. Hughes of Bloomington, Ill., were held here Friday afternoon at Gill's funeral home, conducted by Rev. Max O. Jahr, pastor of the Emanuel's Lutheran church. Interment was made in the local cemetery.
As Magdalena Opperman, daughter of Henry and Mary A. Opperman, she was born at St. Sebald, Jan. 23, 1882, and died at her home in Blooming, Tuesday evening. After graduating from the local school in 1899, she taught in the rural schools. On Dec. 27, 1905, she was married to Attorney Clinton B. Hughes of Arlington. They made their home in Arlington and West Union, and in Bloomington, Ill., where the home has been made for the past 22 years. Mr. Hughes died Jan. 02, 1937. Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Grace Methodist church at Bloomington. She is survived by six children: Harold and Paul of Byran, Texas; Mrs. Irving Fineman of Shaftsbury, Vt., Theodore, Dorothy Jane and Clinton B., Jr., at home; two step-children, Mrs. Harry Heylin of Saunemin, Vt., and Lieut. Donald M. Hughes of Seattle, Wash., also four sisters and one brother, Mrs. Minnie Geissler of Carthage, Ill., Mrs. Mary Feulner and Mrs. Fredericka Feulner, of Strawberry Point, Mrs. Amelia Humphries of Chicago, Ill., and Henry K. Opperman of Long Beach, Calif. There are 8 grandchildren.
