VOLGA CITY: Christian Fredrick, eldest son of Mr. Otto Fredrick and his wife, Catharina Fredrick, nee Deppel, was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, on May 01, 1849. He came with his parents to America one year later, first to Schnectady, N.Y. Here they lived until 1868 when they decided to move into the vicinity of Strawberry Point. On Oct. 05, 1876 he was married to Millie C. Price at Machuette, Ill. After their marriage they made their home in Strawberry Point. Residing there for 33 years, they then moved to Volga City where they remained until their death.
His wife died November 25, 1915. From that time he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Lucy Farrell in Volga City, who attended to him during his old age until death called him away, which was last Thursday night about eleven o'clock. He attained the age of 89 years, two months and 21 days.
He and his wife were blessed with eight children of whom four died in infancy. Those that survive are three sons: John, Vinland, New Jersey; Dave, North Platte, Neb.; Earnest, Mina, Washington, and one daughter, Mrs. Lucy Farrell of Volga City. Also 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles Fredrick, of Strawberry Point and four sisters: Mrs. Eliza Waring, Mrs. Elizabeth Nodurft, Strawberry Point, Mrs. Julia Manning and Mrs. Mary Mihlheim, Oelwein, survive.
Funeral services were held at the Farrell home Sunday afternoon at two o'clock, with the Rev. M. O. Jahr, Lutheran pastor of Strawberry Point in charge. Casket-bearers were: John Fredrick, Louie Fredrick, Walter Fredrick, John Fredrick, Will Waring and Will Fredrick
Burial was in Hill Crest cemetery.

Fuelner, Mr. and Mrs. John Tracy, Mr. and Mrs. George Falk, all of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Julia Manning, Mr. and Mrs. R. J.
