Clayton County Register, 22 June 1938.

GUTTENBERG: John L. Duwe, who has been ill for about 20 years, was taken to Dubuque Saturday, and on Sunday night he died.

Mr. and Mrs. Duwe have been lifetime residents of Guttenberg and this vicinity. About 15 years ago they moved here on account of Mr. Duwe's health.

Besides his widow, there are three children, one daughter, Ellen, and two sons, Orville and Lary, all of this community.

Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, and the Rev. Martin Peters officiated. Burial was made in the city cemetery.
