Funeral services for Erwin Meyer were held at the Harley Howe home, Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Carrie V. Lucas in charge. Burial was made in the County Corners cemetery, five miles southwest of Strawberry Point.
He was born at Strawberry Point on Oct 01, 1912. He graduated from the local high school in 1930. For some time he had been manager of the D-X oil station. He had made his home most of his life with Harley Howes. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lillie Snyder, Strawberry Point; five brothers and three sisters: Merle Meyer and Herbert Meyer, Minneapolis; John Meyer and Claire Meyer, Chicago; Elbert Meyer, Weiser, Idaho; Miss Berdina Meyer, Minneapolis; Mrs. Edna Reich, Chicago, and Miss Lydia Meyer, Grinnell.
(Note: He and Herman Otterbeck were drowned, 08 June 1938, in the Mississippi River above Guttenberg when their boat capsized. An account of the accident appears on Pg. 01 and Pg. 08 of the Clayton County Register of 15 June 1938.)
