Mrs. August F. Wilke died last Sunday, May 09, following a stroke, in her home in Read township. She had not been ill and her sudden death is a severe blow to her family.

Minnie F. Lahrs was born December 21, 1881, in Read township, the daughter of Christian and Frederica Lahrs, so, at the time of her death had reach the age of 56 years, four months and 18 days.

Nov. 08, 1905, she was united in marriage with August F. Wilke in Clayton Center, and for 27 years they lived in Boardman township. During the last five years the Wilke home has been in Read township. Two children were born to this union - Eldo and Mabel - though she had been a mother in every sense of the word to Lucille Wilker who was taken into the Wilke home when she was only a week old.

Mrs. Wilke received her education in the rural schools and was affiliated with the Ladies Aid and the Missionary society of the Clayton Center church.

Besides the bereaved husband and children already named, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Julia Hines of Postville, and two brothers, Fred and John Lahrs, both of Read township, as well as two grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Zion Lutheran church in Clayton Center at 1:30, and burial was made in the new cemetery there, the Rev. O. M. Meyer officiating. Casketbearers were Louis Glawe, Harley Kalke, George Kruse, Geo. Lemke, John H. Maehl and Wm. Madden.
