ST. OLAF: Carl Thompson was born in Clayton county, near St. Olaf on February 17, 1882, the son of Knut and Kristine Thompson. He was baptized in infancy at the Norway church by the Rev. Ole Waldeland. As a young man he homesteaded near Dickenson, N.D., and later moved to Ryder, N.D., where he has lived for the last 25 years.
In 1928 he joined the St. John's Lutheran church there. Last Tuesday morning, May 03, he was found to have died during the night at the age of 56 years, two months and 16 days.
Funeral services were held in the church at Ryder on Thursday, May 05, the Rev. E. Kristensen officiating.
The body was brought to this place on Friday and services were held at the Norway church Saturday, May 07, at 2:00 p.m. the Rev. O. Haugstal officiating. Interment was made in the Norway cemetery. A solo was sung by Miss Evelyn Thoreson at the house and the Norway choir sang two sacred anthems at the church.
The casketbearers were Gilbert Kjosa and Otto Kjosa of Farmersburg, Otto Severson, Oscar Glesne, Alfred Knutson, Clarence Peterson, Elmer Ronquist and Glen Zurcher.
He leaves one nephew, Knute, one niece, Mrs. Roy Russow of Rockford, Ill., a sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, besides a number of cousins and a host of friends.
