Funeral services were held here last Sunday afternoon at the late home at 1:30 for John Ehrhardt and at Friedens Evangelical church at two o'clock, with burial in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
Last Thursday afternoon, April 07, 1938, another life-long resident of Boardman township, John Ehrhardt, was called to his reward. Mr. Ehrhardt, the son of John and Henrietta (Kaiser) Ehrhardt, was born May 25, 1863, in Boardman township, and died at his home in Elkader, reaching the age of 74 years, 10 months and 12 days.
The deceased was in failing health for the past year, and had been confined to his bed for the past two months.
On the 11th day of November, 1886, he was united in marriage with Bertha Wenz of Volga township, by the Rev. F. W. Seifert, at Clayton Center. This union was blessed with two children, William on the home farm, and Kate, who preceded him in death on April 20, 1920.
Mr. Ehrhardt with his family lived on the home farm west of Elkader until 1913, when they moved to Elkader to enjoy their remaining years.
This couple had the pleasure of celebrating their golden wedding on Nov. 11, 1936.
Mr. Ehrhardt is survived by his beloved wife; one son, William, on the home farm; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He also leaves one brother, George, of Elkader. One brother, E. C. Ehrhardt, preceded him in death, as did two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuehl and Mrs. Lena Mayville. Besides, many other relatives and friends mourn his passing.
