STRAWBERRY POINT: Funeral services for Harold Schoentag were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hobart M. Grant. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Harold Theodore Schoentag, youngest son of Sigmund F. and Lena Stapel Schoentag, was born Nov. 16, 1902, at Strawberry Point, and passed away at the University hospital at Iowa City, following an operation on the brain to get rid of a severe brain affliction.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church. He received the greater part of his education in the Strawberry Point school, and graduated with the class of 1922. He was united in marriage to Grace Wilson on January 26, 1928. To this union three sons were born, Silbern Keith, who died in infancy.
Harold was a friend to Everyone and all who knew him respected and admired him. He assisted his father with his farm work, and after marriage farmed for himself. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Donald Harold and Fred Sigmund; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Schoentag of Strawberry Point; one brother, Julius Schoentag of Monona, and four sisters: Mrs. Anna Carter of Romeby, Minn., Mrs. Alice Gehring of Elgin, Miss Gertrude Schoentag at home, and Mrs. Esther Reed of Aurora. One sister, Mrs. Alma Bloomer of Morristown, Minn., preceded him in death a few years ago.
