Lucas, pastor of the Congregational church. The pall bearers were: Geo. W. Barr, J. J. Matthews, Fred E. Davis, J. H. Klingbeil, J. S. Knight and M. F. Harwood. Amelia Cadwell, daughter of George W. and Adeline Ely Cadwell, was born at Berlin, Wis., on August 25, 1856, and died Sunday morning, Feb. 20, 1938. Mrs. Nace had not been well for the past few weeks but thought to be improving until a few days before her death, when heart complications set in. When a young child, Mrs. Nace came to Clayton county with her parents, and has spent her entire life in and around here. In 1875 she was united in marriage with Daniel Mercer Nace. Two daughters blessed this union, Addie May, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Jennie Howard with whom Mrs. Nace has made her home since the death of her husband, which occurred March 10, 1927. The deceased was a member of the Congregational church and for many years active in its women's organizations, giving faithful and loyal service. She was eligible to membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution, and for a time was active in the local chapter of this patriotic organization. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Howard; one grandson, Donald Howard, principal of the Manchester high school; one sister, Mrs. Letie Richards, of Council Bluffs, now visiting in California, who, with her children, Dr. D. C. Richards of New York City and Mrs. W. L. Morrison of Chicago, comprise the remainder of her immediate family.
