Funeral services were held here last Friday afternoon, in the Evangelical church, for Edward Riordan, who had died in Farmersburg last Tuesday. Burial was made in the East Side cemetery, the Rev. P. Kitterer officiating.
The deceased, a life-long resident of this community, was born Sept. 14, 1865, in Elkader, and died at his home in Farmersburg, Iowa, Nov. 16, 1937. He reached the age of 72 years, two months and two days.
On June 16, 1894, Mr. Riordan was united in marriage to Anna Brockman at Clayton Center. two daughters and one son were born to this union. They are: Mrs. Ray Kerlin of Marquette, Sarah Riordan of Elkader, and Glen O. Riordan of Kansas City, Mo.
Mr. Riordan was an honest, upright, hardworking man. He went about his daily duties concerned mainly with the welfare of his family. The deceased spent his life in Elkader, with the exception of the last for years, when he and his wife moved to Farmersburg to make their home.
Mr. Riordan leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, the above named children, one brother, John Riordan, of Chicago, Ill., and one sister, Katherine Riordan, of Chicago, Ill. Also one grandson and two granddaughters, namely: Eugene Riordan of Kansas City, Mo.; Betty Rae and Naomi Kerlin of Marquette.
